The Direction polynésienne des affaires maritimes (DPAM) is responsible for general jurisdiction in matters of navigation and maritime affairs. To this end, it is responsible for the following tasks:

  • set standards for the safety of navigation and traffic in inland waters and monitor their application;
  • develop regulations relating to the safety of ships under 160 gross tonnage (GRT) other than those intended for the carriage of passengers and monitor their application;
  • define, regulate and control maritime professions and activities, in particular with regard to inter-island maritime transport, tourist transport and nautical activities;
  • develop regulations relating to the conduct of ships and related training and monitor their application;
  • defining registration procedures and ensuring their implementation;
  • ensure the administrative supervision of any body responsible for a public service mission in the field of maritime pilotage;

In general, the service contributes to the information of users in maritime matters and provides technical assistance in the development of related regulations or which have an impact in the maritime field.

Hours of operation :

  • Monday to Thursday: 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Friday: 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
    (continuous day)

Warning ! Cells : REGISTRATION, SHIP SAFETY, EXAMINATION CENTER and SEAMEN MANAGEMENT are open to the general public in the morning from Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and by appointment in the afternoon ONLY.
